OMG I just realised it has been over a month since I blogged last time. Life was pretty hectic: lots of work, family things and also a long-awaited trip to Russia. We had a great time there but I was sad to check my photos and see that I didn't take pics of Russian food at all.
The very first morning (it was 4 pm actually) there I fed my face with real Russian cottage cheese and smetana (sour cream) from a farmer's market. It was soooo good!
Oh well, I did find one photo that is suitable for the blog. It was taken May 11, at Russky Dvorik Restaurant in Sergiev Posad. We went to Sergiev Posad for Dave's lecture at a local foreign language center but also had some time to check out the monastery (it is one of my all-time favorite places in Russia) and have something to eat.

To my big suprise, the place we picked for lunch (just across from the Lavra) was serving tea in samovar. For 450 rub (app. $14) you get a whole set: a teapot (black or green tea), jam, candies, suchki and pryanik. I was in heaven. Dave enjoyed it a lot too. So here are the pics:

Check out the waitress at the background. I know it all looks very touristy but fun when you don't get to see it every day. |
