Quick fix cinnamon rolls

There are Saturday (and Sunday too) mornings when you sleep in and while laying in bed realize you ran out of all breakfast stuff - cereal, milk, eggs etc. You are too lazy to go grocery shopping (it is your relax time, anyways) or go out for breakfast or brunch (pijama day, yes!) but starving is also not a good way out. For days like that I have a simple solution that I call ‘quick fix cinnamon rolls’. It is an easy and simple recipe requiring very few ingredients that you always have in your kitchen. This is a no-yeast recipe that makes it a quick fix.

Quick fix cinnamon rolls

Ingredients (make 8):
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups sugar powder
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Grease a pan.
  2. Make the filling: combine together 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, 1/4 tbs salt, and the 3 tbsp melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Make the dough: In a large bowl, combine together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking soda, and 1/4 tbs salt. Add 3 tbsp melted butter.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  5. Place the filling on the dough and make a roll.
  6. Slice the roll into 8 even pieces.
  7. Place the slices in the greased pan and bake for 20-25 min.
  8. Mix 1/2 cup warm water and sugar powder, whisk well and cover the hot rolls with it.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy.
Have a great weekend!

Is that really all it takes to make cinnamon rolls? I'm definitely saving this recipe for later!
